IJN Shokaku

Here is a picture of her Sister ship. There are very few surviving pictures of the IJN Shokaku

Here the ship has not yet had its windows cut and been skinned with balsa. The sections are to be cut out with a dremmel to allow space for the plane launching mechanism and other internals. YES the ship will lauch it's own planes. Preliminary tests have shown the scale Zeroes to have a maximum effective range of about 50ft! This mechanism will be detailed in a future installment

The smaller ship is a US Gearing class destroyer also in 1/96 scale (this is a balsa mock up for a target ship). It'll take quite a few holes to sink this ship!

NZBG_Shokaku_hull_05.jpg (29111 bytes) The last picture may look a little strange. Arthur is holding his ship with the flight deck towards him and the stern sitting on the ground. There is a small skeg down aft and a rudder lead also.
