These pictures are taken from Nihon Kaigun The plug for the Shimakaze is finished. Three hulls have been made already. Contact Stuart for more information. Art and John are each building a ship of this class on hulls made by Stuart. Both ships are progressing nicely and construction photos will be added in the next update. |

A picture of the Shimakaze plug with half of the mould done. |

Art's Shimakaze with prop shafts and rudders installed. Decks are now glued in place and more of the super structure has been added. I'm sure she'll be a worthy enemy! |

Actually - the decks haven't been glued in place. About to start sheeting here. The 1/32" balsa has been pre treated on the inside with silkspan (modeling tissue for balsa framed planes) and can be seen underneath the hull. |

The 1/32" balsa bends nicely around the bow curve. That's one side done and one to go! |

Hard at work. CA glue and a kicker is a must for this. |

We even managed to get ht first coat of paint on that day. Here, she's on top of her sister ship (John's Shimakaze) that needs a lot of work in a week for the battle!!! |

The guns sit in there nicely. A set of 6 guns with custom length risers have been made for Art's Shimkaze. See below. |

Same as above but from the stern. |

Guns for this little beast of a ship! |

Resin moulded turret covers made by Art. Shown here on the after turret of his Shimakaze. |

The turrets have been modified slightly from the original design so the gun brackets are enclosed by them. In all very nice work and effective. |
| There are more photos of the Shimakaze so far in the photo index | |
