The New Zealand Battle Group is a subsidiary club of: This site was last updated on: 22nd
March 2002 This is the only club of its type in New Zealand so far. We are dedicated to building and battling 1/96 scale warship models that saw action between 1906 and 1945. Combat weapons are compressed gas systems firing 1/8" – 1/4" ball bearings. The first question that may be asked is "why 1/96?" Well this scale was chosen for several reasons, but mainly for realism. The most common ships expected to be built are destroyers and cruisers coming in at anywhere from 4 feet to 7 feet long. But can you imagine an Iowa class battleship or Yamato (for those of the axis persuasion) well over 9 feet long, ploughing through the waves, firing it’s 9 x ¼" guns and some of it’s 20 bb secondaries... A fully armed ship of this size would probably require at least a couple of people to build, battle, and maintain it. Latest news! |
